volunteer coordinator: CAROL SMIthERMAN

Kathy brings to CC Clinic many years of experience as a private business owner wherein she coordinated marketing strategies, recruited and trained employees and strengthened vendor relationships. Her nonprofit experience includes initiating the Safety Education and Training Services (S.E.A.T.S.) organization in Lyon County, Nevada.  Within that organization, she planned quarterly child safety seat events, provided instruction on child passenger safety and the laws of child safety seat installation as well as implemented community awareness campaigns through health fairs and presentations.

In January 2019, Carol joined our staff as our Volunteer Coordinator. Carol is a founding member of Sparks Christian Fellowship, where she spent 12 years on staff assisting the lead pastor in a primarily volunteer-run organization. She is passionate about creating community and encouraging people to find fulfillment in serving others within their talents and giftedness. Carol has been married to Jim for 29 years. They have three children and two grandchildren. When not at CC Clinic or spending time with her grandsons, Carol enjoys traveling, reading, scrapbooking, riding tandem bicycle with her husband and doing outreach in the community.

We are so excited to have Julia on our team!
Julia's passion for helping others get healthier physically, mentally and spiritually makes her a natural fit for the Clinic Administrator position at Compassion Community Clinic. When she and her husband Phil moved to the Reno area in 2018, she started looking for ways to break into the nonprofit sector while still running her health coaching practice. That was when a member of her small group at Grace Church Reno informed her of the opportunity to write grants for CC Clinic. Since that time, she had become part of our team! Her favorite part of her job is seeing patients who previously entered the clinic in pain and upset leave joy-filled and smiling. Her past experience ranges from providing journalistic coverage for publications and working with nonprofit organizations in Washington, DC, Cambodia and the Middle East, to serving as a field representative to a California State Assemblyperson. She has her B.A. from Biola University in Journalism and Integrated Media and considers herself a lifelong student of languages, cultures and religious studies. When not working, Julia is typically at the dog park with her pups Sansa and Arya or taking day trips with Phil.
